Cambodia and N-Korea Update Trade Ties
Ouch Borith, Secretary of State for Cambodia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Ri Myong San, Trade Vice-Minister of DPRK, signed an agreement where Cambodia and North Korea agreed to expand bilateral trade, technology, agriculture, industry, investment and the health sector on July 27. With a big focus on agriculture, the North Korea will boost technology in [the] agriculture sector. After the meeting, North Korea promised to promote Cambodia’s agriculture including animal breeding, botanic breeding and fisheries to expand the livestock production and [are] interested in the heavy industries while the nation country becomes potential. According to Ouch Borin, Cambodia has acknowledged North Korea as a strong purchaser of Cambodian agro-products such as corn, rice, rubber, cassava, and peanuts, and hopes to absorb back the farming machines to process them and expand the nation’s agricultural boom (p 28).
